R3 Repairs Invests in Heat Pump Expertise to Support the Low-Carbon Transition

R3 Repairs is continuing to invest in the skills and development of our engineering team, strengthening our ability to deliver sustainable heating solutions for clients across Scotland.
Our engineers, Kenny Paterson and Chris Mitchell, recently completed an intensive five-day Air Source Heat Pump with F-Gas Training Course at The Energy Training Academy in Dalkeith. The course was delivered by experienced instructor Peter Murphy and provided comprehensive practical and theoretical training in the installation, servicing and maintenance of air source heat pump systems.
On successful completion of the course, both engineers achieved the BPEC Level 3 Air Source Heat Pump Systems qualification together with the LCL Awards Category 1 F-Gas qualification. These nationally recognised certifications enable them to legally install, commission, service and maintain both air-to-water and air-to-air heat pump systems, while also carrying out work involving F-Gas refrigerants in accordance with current regulations.
The training was made possible through funding identified by The Energy Training Academy in partnership with Capital City Partnership, helping businesses like R3 Repairs invest in the future skills needed to support the UK’s transition to low-carbon heating technologies.
This investment delivers significant benefits for both our business and our clients. By expanding the expertise of two of our seven plumbing and gas engineers, R3 Repairs can now offer a broader range of heating, HVAC and refrigeration services in-house. This reduces the need to subcontract specialist work, improves project efficiency and responsiveness, and creates new opportunities to support customers with renewable heating installations.
As demand for heat pumps continues to grow across the commercial sector, developing these specialist skills also helps future-proof our workforce, ensuring we remain compliant with industry regulations while delivering the high-quality service our clients expect.
