R3 Direct Client – Garage Roof Repair & Replacement

Overview

Following damage to a garage roof, R3 Direct was engaged to provide a durable, weatherproof, and low-maintenance solution. The project involved removing the failing roof covering, repairing the joists and decking structure, and installing a modern single-ply membrane system for long-term protection.

Challenges

• Deteriorated Roof Decking – Existing felt and OSB decking boards were failing.
• Need for Long-Term Solution – Client required a durable and low-maintenance upgrade.
• Weather Risk – Works needed to be completed quickly to prevent further water ingress.

Our Approach

Our Contract Manager attended the property to measure up and survey the works, understand the needs of the clients and agree a programme of works. Materials and small access scaffolds were ordered ensuring when the works commenced everything was available.

We worked methodically to ensure the structure was sound before commencing the installation of the new roof system.

1. Preparation & Safety

• Prepared and protected the work area to prevent debris damage.
• Ensured safe access and egress was available to the client’s home at all times keeping them and the public safe.

2. Strip-Out

• Removed and disposed of the existing felt and OSB decking board.
• Exposed and assessed the timber joists beneath, ensuring and defective timbers were replaced or treated.

3. Structural Preparation

• Cleaned and prepared the existing joists to receive the new decking boards, this time they would be timber tongue and grooved for longevity.
• Supplied and installed 18mm tongue & groove boards, securely screwed and fixed to the timber joists ensuring a strong base.

4. New Roof Installation

• Supplied and installed a Firestone single-ply roof system, including all drips, trims, and flashings.
• This system is an excellent option for flat roofs, offering durability, long-term performance, and ease of installation. It’s a popular choice for both residential and commercial buildings due to its ability to withstand various weather conditions and its long lifespan.

5. Finishing Touches

• Checked and cleaned all gutters around the roof repair area to ensure water flow and proper drainage.
• Cleared and tidied the worksite before leaving.
